Before riding in the Slog to Sale, you will have already registered and have a road worthy bike. The bike ride is on October 3rd, 2009. Regular Check in is from 6:00am - 7:00am at the Pakenham Baptist Church. Late Start riders need to be checked in by 9am NO REGISTRATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED ON THE DAY OF THE RIDE. Once we start riding, riders will spread out very quickly and you may find yourself riding alone at times. We have safety cars positioned every 15kms for your refreshment or first aid attention. A list of emergency phone numbers will also be given to you during the check in process. For anyone at the very back of the pack you will notice that there will be a bus that will drive behind you and will not allow anyone to drop behind or be left. This vehicle is available for your assistance if you need it. If you decide to not ride any further, you have the option of catching a ride, to either the lunch stop, or Sale. The organisers, and the driver of the bus at the back of the riders, reserves the right to: stop, move, and/or remove participants in the Slog to Sale ride if required. This is to reduce the size of spread and ensure support services are not spread thinly, and to keep the ride on schedule. The Ride Directors reserve the right to move slower participants by vehicle to catch up if they are falling too far behind the majority of the riders. This is in the interests of safety of all the riders. If you are severely struggling at any stage, you should stop for a break and then continue. We do not advise that you try to push through the pain, and injure yourself. Along the ride, there are fruit and water provided from the safety cars. The lunch that you bring in a packed and labelled bag, will be waiting for you at Traralgon at the Bert Thomas Reserve. (see Map). This is a community fun ride, and we encourage you to enjoy your lunch with other riders. Remember, this is not a race. When you get to your destination at Sale Baptist Church, there will be a free meal waiting for you, at around 5pm. It's also a great chance to chill out and just relax with others who took part in the ride and share the thrills and spills of the day. This is also a good chance to recover a little after the ride, ready for the journey home. You will also be able to share your digital photos you may have taken on the day for future Slog to Sale's, and also for them to go on our website! After the formalities after dinner, you will be free to leave. Upon registration, you will have the option of getting a ride home if you need one, or you can arrange this for yourself. If you need a ride, there is a bus available, or a ride with one of the many support cars. There is a shower facility available too. Please chase your sponsorship money and get it in early. All money must be presented no later than 14 days from the ride. We encourage you to obtain the money upfront from the people who are prepared to do it. If you leave it too long it seems like a huge task, but please treat the collection of money with the energy and enthusiasm that you rode with. The longer the money is outstanding, the longer the Foodbank waits for much needed funds especially as Christmas approaches. This is the reason we are raising the money: to help people in need, especially when Christmas is a great time of need.
