What is the Slog To Sale?
The Slog to Sale is a 160km bike ride from Pakenham to Sale. Read here for more information.
When is the Slog to Sale?
Saturday 3rd of October 2009.
When must I be at the start location?
As a regular rider, you must be there no later than 7am, to leave time to sign up. If you have registered for the Late Start group (and you need to be a fast rider for this), please be there no later than 9am.
Is there a time limit?
Yes, 4:15pm is the cut-off time for arriving at Sale. If you are not within 5kms of the finish line by that time the SAG wagon will pick you up.
What about registration?
All participants must register before riding. Registration closes on 26th September 2009. See more details.
How much is it to enter?
$65. (Earlybird Registration is $45, before 12th September 2009.)
Will there be anything to eat, and what about lunch?
Along the ride, there is fruit, snacks and water provided from the safety cars.
You will need to bring your own lunch. Pack it in a labelled bag and we will make sure it is waiting for you at Traralgon at the Bert Thomas Reserve. (see Map).
A free BBQ is provided at the end of the ride, at Sale Baptist Church.
Are there shops on the way?
Yes, purchases can be made from Milk Bars on route if you wish to, at
your own expense. We do not permit riders going off the main road as it
is very hard to find you again and we then lose control of the riding
group and your safety is compromised.
Can I buy a memento?
Yes, there will be some merchandise available on the day.We recommend the jersey.
Are refreshments available?
Fruit and drink is provided during the ride at designated stops.
Do we ride on dirt or gravel roads?
No, the entire trip is a sealed road.
Just before Sale, there is a section of bridges that at this stage bikes are not permitted on, and the alternative path has some gravel bits. We are working to temporarily allow bikes to use the bridges.
What if my bike breaks?
Mechanical support is available along the route, but you are expected to
be able to change and repair punctures. It is also strongly
recommended that you have your bike serviced before the event.
We recommend Bears Bikes and also Evo Cycles for all your bike servicing or purchasing needs.
What if I can't continue?
A vehicle at the back will be able to pick you up.
If it is an emergency, then refer to your notes on the handed out lanyard, or call 000.
Who gets the profits from the ride?
The 4C's Emergency Food Bank in Pakenham receives all proceeds raised. See our Finances page for more details.
Is it a race?
The Slog to Sale is a fun community ride event and is not a race. (Being a 'race' has different requirements with traffic control, etc.) Prizes are awared to those who raise the most sponsorship.
I don't know how to get to Sale.
