Slog to Sale is an awesome 160km bike ride. Apart from the fact that it's fun to do with over a hundred people involved, our aim is to raise money for the 4C's local Food Bank.
This is the seventh year that the Slog to Sale is running, and the growth of this ride is just crazy!
Amongst many comments, the most common was "what a family/community feel this ride has to it".
Slog to Sale organisers believe this is due to trying to include every rider, regardless of their 'sporting' or physical ability.
We also have a great bunch of volunteers that work very hard in organising and helping out with the running of the big day.
These are the guys that can get you across the finish line at the end of the day.
We've even got dedicated and qualified Level 2 First Aiders 'roaming on the road' between riders, assisting with what ever is required, should need them.
As the organisers of this event, we find this to be one of the most enjoyable days of the year, as it is a day that we all get to ride beside you, chat and enjoy the time on the road.
We try to cater for each rider as best as possible by having safety cars every 15 kms with food and drink available for refreshments, or if you just want to stop and have a chat to our drivers.
Along the way there are some great sights and this is genuinely a fun ride.
Sure, 160kms is a long way, but we think you should try it!
We have a few riding start times, so that if you are slower, you can go before anyone else. Then, if you are a bit more of a serious rider, you get to leave a little later. If you're really serious we have a late start group that leaves an hour after everyone else. But don't worry if you can't make the entire distance in time, as we've got a bus that can, and will pick you up if you aren't close enough to Sale, or our lunch spot in Traralgon, by the desired times.
Riding is during the day only, from 7:30am to 5pm.
It's not a race either, and there are no trophies for placements - just bragging rights and PBs. There are a few incentives for riders with very high sponsorships though...
As you can see the picture on the right, the girls were quite happy to pull over, have a good laugh and stretch and eventually keep going.
